unplug your weekendYes, today I am the bearer of very good news.

Put down that business activity and do at least one of the 15 things successful people do on weekends.

Your weekends hold a top-secret weapon for your success.

And since you are most likely reading this on the weekend, what a valuable conversation for us to be having right now.  You can run right out and apply this!

Weekends rejuvenate and equip us for the week ahead.  Weekends filled with exercise, volunteer efforts, spiritual activities and hands-on family time make us happier, more relaxed people, better than if we were working our fingers to the proverbial bone every minute of every day.

Weekends are not the time for more business work or disappointments.

I told you I was bringing some happy talk today!

Recently, I found this great list on Forbes entitled “14 Things Successful People Do On Weekends,” and I felt it was a timely topic for us to tackle as so many small business owners feel like we have to work 24 x 7 to get an edge, to reach our vision.  I added the 15th.  It’s too often neglected.

Put one or more of these activities into your weekend:

1. Make time for family and friends

2. Exercise (this isn’t work…really)

3. Pursue a passion (you’ve got at least one)

4. Vacation (now there’s an idea!)

5. Disconnect (I break out in a rash just thinking about this one)

6. Volunteer (someone else needs you)

7. Avoid chores (guys, tell your wife I said so)

8. Plan (just plan on the weekends…not do)

9. Socialize (sounds like fun)

10. Garden/craft/games/sports/cooking/culture

11. Network

12. Reflect (a perfect time for this; give your creative right-brain a chance to come out and participate)

13. Meditate

14. Recharge (to be at your peak you have to come down)

15. Celebrate (something good-to-great happened last week… mark your achievement)

Work is important.  Balance is even more important.

Go forth and do great things,

Martha and Chris
