how to increase business salesThe subject line kind of gives away your next gift.

I am suggesting you raise your prices in 2013.  I’m giving you the Gift of Permission to Raise Your Prices.

Every week Chris and I work with people who have amazing products, really valuable services and have evidence their stuff does what they say.

Yet, they are intimidated by the economy, their belief that people won’t pay a higher price, or insecure about the value they bring.   So they low-ball their offer.

Now I’m going to add insult to injury—last week I was working with someone who was having a hard time offering her services for $395.  She felt her prospect didn’t have the money.  Prior to talking to me she had gotten off the phone with one of her “hottest” prospects…who had just bought another, similar program for $10,000!

Then I was getting my hair cut on Saturday, and my stylist told me he was floored by his customers’ reactions to his new shampoo.  He had moved from something that cost $40 a bottle to one just as good that cost $20.  Would his customers take the new shampoo?  Nope.

Sometimes the price on the item works to convey a sense of value.  That $10,000 program was surely more valuable than one for $397.  The $40 shampoo was much better than the $20 one.

Now I’m swift to tell you—again—it’s not just about the price on your offerings.  It’s also about how you convey the value.  Obviously, the people who sold the more expensive items above did a killer job of conveying value.

Sometimes I look at what you are offering, and I think “Raise the prices.  This is just too good.”

So this is our Gift to You.  Permission.

If…

Yes, this gift does come with some strings attached.  It’s time to raise your prices if:

-> You are an expert in what you do…truly an expert

-> You’ve been afraid to ask for what your product or service is really worth

-> You know how to convey the value of what you offer (don’t leave it to your customer to figure out—it’s your job)

-> You have ample evidence that what you are offering does what you say it will do—evidence from other customers in the form of success stories

Did you pass the test?

Then write this down:

Experts charge expert prices.

Keep it near where you work.  Read it to start your day.  Read it to shake the insecurity from your sales conversation.

Adjust your prices with pride, and we’ll all feel rich.
