Do you remember this question we asked you in January?

“What’s your biggest obstacle in 2017?  The one you believe you must hurdle to reach your goal.

Three answers showed up over and over.  Not having enough time was #2.

Of course, you don’t!  You’re walking around doing too much useless “stuff.”

If you think of your business like an airplane trying to lift off the ground, you’ll have an equation to get more time for the things that are important (including yourself and your family.)

Lift + thrust > load + drag.

In other words, when the air under the plane’s wings coupled with its drive forward are greater than the load it carries plus the stuff that drags it down, the plane flies.

Same is true for your business.

You and I talk about lift and thrust for your business all the time.

Let’s tackle the load + drag thing as it contributes mightily to the “I don’t have enough time” feeling.

To reduce load and drag…you must shed.

This is not a drill or a suggestion.  It’s a requirement.

Shed the things…the actions and the inactions…that aren’t working.  Maybe you’re doing them because you’ve always done them.  Maybe someone told you to do them.  Maybe you read in some book or workshop you should be doing them.

Yet, you get little-to-no results.

Shed them.

Shed whatever has ceased to function in you…and in your business.

Shed whatever is no longer alive and breathing energy and life into what you do.

Cast off what isn’t working or no longer serves you or your customers.

Maybe you should shed a dead way of thinking, or seeing or hearing or relating or believing or experiencing.

Shed the weight.  Lose the drag.

And two things will happen.  First, you’ll discover your day is more valuable and productive.  You’re tackling only what works and what you want to experiment with (to see if it works).

Second, you won’t feel so stressed and overwhelmed which makes you feel like you have no time for anything.

Now, of course, you can always choose not to shed.

If that’s your path, be alert to what will happen…you will be forced to undergo a more painful route because something is going to break.

This is not a drill.  It’s real.

Go forth and do great things,

MARTHA and CHRIS
