We’re getting down to the wire on 2021. Just 10 days left.

It’s too late to make big changes in how this year will turn out, but it’s not too early to get a great head start on making 2022 your best year yet.

While visions of sugar plums are dancing in most people’s heads during the holidays, set your sights on something else. Amidst all the holiday parties and family gatherings, find time to imagine the results you’ll be celebrating this time next year.

There’s one powerful way to set yourself up for success.

Get busy creating a detailed visualization of what your life and business will be like when you show up as the best and most effective leader you can be.

If you’re not creating a story for yourself as the star performer, you need to be. It’s a fantastic habit that will drive you to amazing achievement.

You already know about the power of writing down a goal completely and in present tense as a way of making it real. Visualization doubles down on that. You make that desire come to life.

As you visualize, can you taste the champagne after the successful launch of your new product or service? How about the smell of the brand-new car you’ve had your eye on? Or the feel of the sun on your face and the sound of the waves when you take that long-awaited vacation?

Can you hear the excitement in the room when your team is creative, happy, and fulfilled? The pride in their voices when they report success after success?

Feels great, doesn’t it?

Once you have the story in your mind, keep it alive and active. Write it out or make a vision board. Rehearse your speech for that year-end celebration or how you’ll announce that special vacation to your family.

Of all goal setting tips, why is visualization so effective?

Most of us – up to 65% of the population – are visual learners. A detailed image helps our brain to focus and retain information. This sets the stage for you to take the actions that will turn that vision into reality.

The more simple and vivid the imagery, the more effective your visualization will be in helping you (or your team or company) achieve your goal. Incorporating all five senses into the story will help to reinforce the power of the visualization.

Use your success story to get a strong head start on planning and goal setting for 2022. Before you get down to the detailed action plan, make sure that your vision of success is so vivid that the path to achieving it is absolutely clear.

Can you see that success? Hear it, feel it, smell it, taste it?

Then you have a great head start on a spectacular 2022.

Go forth and do great things,
