No amount of thinking can stop thinking.
Overthinking seems to be one of those really annoying and usually wasteful reflexes we humans have. Kind of like the horse shooing the fly away only to have it return and never go away.
We all do this in our business. No one is exempt. But no matter how hard it is to do, we must get off the mental merry-go-round, particularly at this time of the year.
This time of year challenges us all. Business to close before the calendar year ends. Prospects to connect with before they get sucked into the rush of the holiday season. Customer engagements to schedule for January and February so we’re busy (and being paid) while everyone recovers from their eggnog stupor.
You have entered an arena of faith. You must have faith that thinking and thinking and rethinking isn’t a very valuable or productive use of your time.
Truth be told, no amount of overthinking about yourself, about your business, will facilitate some magnificent, deeper wisdom to wash over you. Just like thinking about chocolate chip cookies doesn’t fill your belly.
Think. Then do. I’m betting you’ve got all the thinking about your business covered. Now go do.
Go forth and do great things,
Martha and Chris
