It’s hard to believe, isn’t it?
The first quarter of 2022 is behind us, with the rest of the year lying ahead. The holiday re-entry period has passed and for much of the country, the winter doldrums are giving way to Spring Now is the time to plan for Quarter 2 and beyond.
Say what? You thought you planned for the whole year during December last year? You did, but…
Now it’s time to see how accurate your plans were and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you reach those lofty goals you set for this year. The world (and your business) have changed in the last three months and you want to make sure you keep up.
Here are five questions that you can ask to make sure you stay (or get back) on track for the rest of this year.
- Did you meet or exceed your expectations for the first quarter? If not, do you anticipate catching up early in Quarter 2?
- Have rising costs cut deeply into your bottom line? If so, are there places where you can cut expenses to make up for costs that are largely out of your control?
- What worked well in Quarter 1 that you will continue? What less successful strategies do you need to change or eliminate?
- Where does your team need additional support to meet the goal? Do they need more support, additional resources, more frequent feedback? How will you make sure that these needs are met?
- Where is it important to say “yes” and where do you need to say “no?” The end of the quarter is a good time to review decisions that you have been postponing so that you enter the next phase with clarity, rather than with lingering questions.
Successful leaders know that planning is not a “one and done” process. Periodic review and recalibration will help to ensure that you come to the end of the year with your goals met or exceeded. An adjustment in the second quarter can help avoid a fourth quarter panic.
One quarter down, three to go. Review and adjust to position your team and your business for a wildly successful 2022.
Blessings,
