“Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainly of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.”
As we celebrate the life and miracle that was Maya Angelou, it seems perfect to borrow from one of her poems and apply it to our own lives, our own efforts in our business.
And while that’s a far more trivial concern than the topic of her poem, the association still seems right to me.
When people write you off, or say “no” to what you offer them, rise.
When you are weighted down by the effort to build your business to match your dream, you rise.
When your success scares you or others get a little jealous, still you rise.
Act like you’ve “…got oil wells pumping in my living room.”
Laugh “…like I’ve got gold mines diggin’ in my own back yard.”
Dance “…like I’ve got diamonds at the meeting of my thighs.”
Go forth and do great things,
