She tried it.
She said she really, really tried it.
“It” was her phone calls to potential affiliate partners.
She called. She talked. They listened, and then…
…they said, “Can you send me something?”
You know that question. It coyly disguises what’s really being said. It’s code words for “I’m trying to brush you off politely, and you’re probably not ballsy enough to call me again.”
After she and I did a bit of digging and questioning, the problem became obvious.
What she did really didn’t work.
However, the problem wasn’t the strategy. Affiliations are a perfectly perfect strategy for her to build her business. And she called the right type of potential affiliate.
What went off the rails was she spent her time on the call talking about what an amazing record of accomplishment her company has solving the potential affiliate customer’s problem.
She never asked any questions to uncover what the potential affiliate’s problem is with his customers, what keeps him up at night worrying about something he can’t solve because his company doesn’t solve that type of problem!
His problem is the first one she must solve. She must clearly demonstrate how she can eliminate his worry.
If you’re going to introduce the Affiliate strategy into your business to get new prospects, you must solve the problem of the affiliate before you solve the problem of their customer.
Got that?
It’s kind of like a two-part sale.
First, you must sell the affiliate on using you. What problem does he have that you solve?
Then and only then…when they are interested in what you can do for them…do you begin to share the problem you solve for his customer.
The first “sale”…to the affiliate…gets you access.
The second “sale”…to the affiliate’s customer…gets you revenue.
This strategy is too powerful to put on the shelf. Have you introduced it to your business? If not, I highly encourage you to do it and do it soon.
Go forth and do great things,
