Perfectionism replaced by excellence.
Fear of criticism replaced by embracing resistance.
These have been our conversations the past two weeks.
Now I want to talk to you about “that” thing…a third emotion which all too often gets the better of us, keeping us from our
goal and full potential.
And, frankly, many of us were taught at an early age “that” thing isn’t good.
Failure.
Too many of us never step forward for fear we’ll fail.
There’s even an often spoken saying that “Failure is not an option.”
Well, it is an option.
Failure has a good side. Failure means we’re testing our boundaries, not staying still or stagnant or safely handing out in our usual spot. Every business fails, from the big ones like Starbucks to the small ones like you and me.
Failure becomes your friend when you learn from it, adjust what you’re doing and then move forward in a smarter way.
Here’s what I want you to do…
Do the ONE THING you think you cannot do.
Fail at it. Go ahead. It’s okay.
Learn from it. What worked and what didn’t work.
Try again.
Do better the second time.
The only people who do not tumble are those who never mount the high wire.
Yes, it takes a little courage. I know you have some of that. And remember, courage is not the absence of fear of failure, rather the triumph over it.
This is your moment. Own it.
