Ever feel like running a business is like playing a never-ending game of Whack A Mole?

Just as one problem settles down, another one pops up.

Seems like you need 360-degree vision, more hands and more mallets.

Will it ever end?

If you feel you’re spending too much time handling emergency flare-ups, team crises, customer complaints, technology failures or problems that resurface after you thought things were settled, it’s a cry for help.

Your business is screaming at you, “Hey you!  Something must change!”

You probably already know this.  You might be struggling to read this because you’ve got a few too many of those pesky critters popping up on your desk right now.

The big question is…what must change?

If you knew what would relieve the pressure, you would already be in action to flip something on its head for a new direction, right?

If you want to stop playing Whack A Mole, examine the primary causes of the problems (moles) that keep popping up.

  1. Are they coming from certain reoccurring client issues?
  2. Do they end up on your desk because your team isn’t capable of handling the problem…or worse, is capable but don’t believe they have the authority (after all, you’re the business owner)?
  3. Is your Ideal Customer losing interest in your offerings, showing up in lagging sales?
  4. Are your traditional sources of marketing not producing the same results?

Of course, a strong reason the moles keep popping up might be that your leadership talents need an upgrade.

You’re more comfortable in the trenches than in the executive seat.

You’re sure that no one knows how to do it better than you.

You haven’t empowered your team…or they don’t feel like they’ve been given the authority.

The key to winning the Whack A Mole game is to figure out where the moles are coming from and address the issue at the source.

You need the right hands and the right help to plug all the holes, too. So long as there’s one place where the pop-ups can start, it’s hard to keep them from getting out of control.

When you’re tired of playing Whack A Mole, examine the source of your moles and give your team mallets of their own.

Then imagine what you could be doing when problems crop up one at a time instead of too fast and furious to handle.

Things like spending time with your family or taking that long overdue vacation.

Feels pretty good, doesn’t it?

Go forth and do great things,
