I was sitting in my backyard the other day, watching a little nature interaction, and I thought of you.

My dogs, Jasper and Tally…who are very, very birdy…drew my attention to our hummingbirds buzzing around the backyard.  The birds would target this way and that.  They would stop suddenly to check out a flower, and then be on their way to their next inquisitive stop.

All this action caused me to think about how a hummingbird can do that (hold tight…you know I’ll bring this to you in a moment).

While their entire structure is designed for flight, they get airborne because of two principles.

Lift + thrust.

Load + drag.

When lift plus thrust is greater than load plus drag, birds fly.

Same reason that plane I’ll be in this weekend stays in the air.

Well, this got me think about you (almost there).

The same thing applies to your business, doesn’t it?

When your lift (your enthusiasm, plan, knowledge, team, coach, mentor, systems and the like) gets coupled with your thrust (your in-action moment forward to execute the plan)…

…and all of that is greater than the load that drags you down (unnecessary stuff, the little evil voice inside your head, busy work, planning to plan the plan)…

You prosper.

Two steps to get your business airborne.

And we have now hit that time of the year for you to be airborne to reach your goals.

It’s the time when you really must simplify what you do, laser focus on your end-of-year goal, and step into the prosperous life you wanted when you started this business of yours.

We’re down to four critical months.  Four months to close your revenue gap or accelerate beyond your target.

Four months to put aside the things “nice” to do in favor of only the critical things to do.

Four months to recommit to what you want, to shake off a summer of sun and get into only the actions leading you to where you want to be (you know where you want to be, right??)

Your plan for the next four months is simple:

  • Write down your goal (measurable)
  • Determine the (no more than) 3-4 critical success factors (strategies) that will take you to your goal
  • Only do the actions that put the critical success factors into play; everything else…put aside

Think “lift plus thrust.”  And eliminate the “load plus the drag.”

Four months.  Let’s do this together.

Go forth and do great things,
