Intangible essentials for serving customersI’ve always been fascinated that the most important things for us to have in our businesses are the most intangible…belief, inspiration, confidence, care, wisdom, leadership, intention.

You can’t touch them.  You can’t hold them in your hands.  You can’t take them out and try them on.

Yet, they shape our business and us.  They, therefore, shape our success.

It’s kind of weird, really.  The attributes worth having in your business are those that you cannot touch and hold…or sell (well, you can and you do but you get where I’m going with this).

The most valuable things you bring to your customers shape their lives and infect your business, but they cannot be sold.

What an absurdity!

Actually, not so absurd and certainly not sad at all.  We become what we seek.

We start out wanting to be wise, and we become wise.

We start out desiring to be inspired, and we become inspiration.

We begin our quest for confidence and leadership, and we become confident and the leader.

As we begin this New Year, recognize what is essential to you, your customers and your business.  Because in seeking what is essential, you will become essential.

Because all you need is right where you are.

What a 2014 you’re going to have.

Go forth and do great things,
